Red Currant

Red Currants or Ribes r. ‘Jonkheer van Tets’  is one of the earliest varieties to ripen, bearing heavy crops of sweet-tasting fruit from early July. Grow Ribes rubrum ‘Jonkheer’ in well-drained, fertile soil in a sheltered, sunny or partially shaded spot. It is a decidous shrub that belongs to the gooseberry family. Prune every winter.
